What A Dandy... the life of an ex-race horse...

enjoying his apple and polo treats today...

Today I had the pleasure to visit former racehorse, What A Dandy previously trained by Jim Boyle in Epsom for Inside Track Racing Club.  He now lives the life of luxury at his forever home with his new owners, Louise and Phil in the beautiful, rural Surrey countryside...

Dandy with Louise...

He has a lovely stable with a perfect view over the sand school and shares his home with a variety of animals from chickens, to dogs, other horses and even emu's!

meeting Rodney, one of the 5 emu's...
Lottie, one of the other ponies...

Dandy, content in his new stable...

I'm happy to say he is being spoilt by Louise and rightly so, as he's a charming and very handsome chap, he even has a whole stable room full of new rugs, coats, brushes etc... :)

stretching his legs in the sand school for a while...

keeping a watchful eye over the emus...

It's always a worrying time when a racehorse retires and finding a new home & lifestyle to suit them, so it's wonderful to see an ex-racer.. he's happy, healthy and enjoying his retirement in such a loving environment where he'll be looked after and cared for in the best way...

There are a few nice shots of Dandy on the racecourse, found on the Racing Fotos Website:
