AW Championships Finals Day at Lingfield...

Finals Day!
The conclusion of the 2015/16 All Weather Championships Season at Lingfield Park, Good Friday...

In 2 days time, Easter will be upon us and with it, Good Friday brings us an exciting day of Horse Racing in the form of the AW Championships Finals Day at Lingfield Park race track, celebrating the best of the All Weather Racing!  The seven races are worth a total of £1.1 million, making it the richest AW raceday in Europe!

The first race kicks off at 1:40pm with the 32RED AW Fillies & Mares Championships Conditions Stakes.
7 Furlongs, 10 entries at time of writing as follows;

  1. Alfajer - Marco Botti - Andrea Atzeni
  2. Bint Dandy - Chris Dwyer - Silvestre De Souza
  3. Cold as Ice - William Haggas - Pat Cosgrave
  4. Diamond Lady - William Stone - Frederik Tylicki
  5. Primrose Valley - Ed Vaughan - Luke Morris
  6. Saucy Minx - Amanda Perrett - Jim Crowley
  7. Secret Hint - Andrew Balding - Oisin Murphy
  8. Skidby Mill - Laura Mongan - Joe Fanning
  9. Subtle Knife - Giles Bravery - William Carson
  10. Volunteer Point - Mick Channon - Graham Gibbons
Tips: Cold as Ice has been getting a lot of attention and is generally thought of as best in field, but Marco Botti's Alfajer has been running well and with blinkers in the mix might just sharpen her up enough to win.  Laura Mongan's Skidby Mill is an interesting 6 yr old and I think her past record at Lingfield will work in her favour for an EW.  Mick Channon's 4yr old Volunteer Point could also run well, i'm a fan of her Sire, Footstepsinthesand.

2:10 Unibet Sprint, 6 Furlongs, 14 declared...
  1. Alben Star - Richard Fahey - David Nolan
  2. Boom the Groom - Tony Carroll - William Carson
  3. Bosham - Michael Easterby - Adam Kirby
  4. Chookie Royale - Keith Dalgeish - Tom Eaves
  5. Gamgoom - Mario Hofer - Martin Harley (German import)
  6. Goken - Kevin Ryan - Graham Lee (French import)
  7. Intransigent - Andrew Balding - Oisin Murphy
  8. Lancelot Du Lac - Dean Ivory - Robert Winston
  9. LightsCameraAction - Gay Kelleway - Luke Morris
  10. Realize - Stuart Williams - Andrea Atzeni
  11. Rivellino - K R Burke - Dougie Costello
  12. Russian Soul - M Halford - Shane Foley
  13. Jamesie - David Marnane - Pat Smullen
  14. Spring Loaded - Paul D'Arcy - Shane Kelly
Tips: I'm feeling a  Lancelot Du Lac and LightsCameraAction duel forecast for this race.  This is a strong field and very hard to pick!

2:40 32RED Marathon
1M 7F, 13 runners declared...
  1. Anglophile - Charlie Appleby - James Doyle
  2. Blue Surf - Amanda Perrett - Adam Kirby
  3. First Mohican - Alan King - Jimmy Fortune
  4. Handsome Dan - Sarah Hollinshead - Daniel Tudhope
  5. John Reel - David Evans - J F Egan
  6. Notarised - Mark Jonhston - Joe Fanning
  7. Pearl Castle - K R Burke - Dougie Costello
  8. Royal Marskell -  Gay Kelleway - Luke Morris
  9. Shalaman - David Marnane - Pat Smullen
  10. Sunblazer - Kim Bailey - William Twiston Davies
  11. Ballynanty - Andrew Balding - Oisin Murphy
  12. Monaleen - Ian Williams - Silvestre De Souza
  13. Moonrise Landing - Ralph Beckett - Jim Crowley
Tips: Moonrise Landing is the favourite but has been on a 3 month break, Sun Blazer has won 4/5 of his last starts on AW.  I'd like a little EW bet on First Mohican. And finally, 5 yr old Notarised can't be ignored, with Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning's excellent partnership could they get another win?

3:15 LADBROKES MILE
1M 12 runners...
  1. Arnold Lane - Mick Channon - Silvestre De Souza
  2. Big Baz - William Muir - Martin Dwyer
  3. Captain Cat - Roger Charlton - George Baker
  4. Captain Joy - Tracey Collins - Pat Smullen

  6. Jammy Guest - George  Margarson - Ryan Powell
  7. Lunar Deity - Stuart Williams - Pat Cosgrave
  8. Mindurownbusiness - Roger Varian - Jim Crowley
  9. Mister Universe - Mark Johnston - Joe Fanning
  10. Seanie - David Marnane - Graham Lee
  11. Si Senor - Ed Vaughan - Adam Kirby
  12. Sovereign Debt - David Nicholls - Andrea Atzeni
Tips: I would love to see 7 yr old Captain Joy take the win but feel EW is a fairer chance, whilst Mindurownbusiness has won 3 of his last 4 starts this season and is the clear favourite to win for obvious reasons.
Captain Joy

3:45 CORAL Middle Distance
1M 2F, 10 declared...
  1. Battalion - William Haggas - Pat Cosgrave
  2. Complicit - Paul Cole - Luke Morris
  3. Fire Fighting - Mark Johnston - F M Berry
  4. Grendisar - Marco Botti - Adam Kirby
  5. Man of Harlech - Andrew Balding - Oisin Murphy
  6. Maverick Wave - John Gosden - James Doyle
  7. Metropol - Mme Pia Brandt -
  8. Political Policy - Gavin Cromwell - Ronan Whelan
  9. Watersmeet - Mark Johnston - Joe Fanning
  10. Winterlude - Jennie Candish - George Baker
Tips: Grendisar has been a real star of the AW season and i'm sure Marco Botti is looking for another win here, but of course Battalion and Maverick Wave with James Doyle will be strong competition.  I'll be keeping a close watch on Metropol.

Grendisar Winning the AW Derby Trials at Lingfield

4:15 UNIBET 3YR OLDS SPRINT
5F, 9 declared...
  1. Aguerooo - Richard Hannon - Kieran O'Neill
  2. Field of Vsion - Joseph Tuite - George Baker
  3. Gracious John - David Evans - J F Egan
  4. Kadrizzi - Dean Ivory - Robert Winston
  5. Quatrieme Ami - Philip McBride - Daniel Tudhope
  6. Sign of the Kodiac - James Given - Tom Eaves
  7. Wolowitz - David Barron - Graham Gibbons
  8. Illegally Blonde - Jamie Osborne - William Carson
  9. Krystallite - Scott Dixon - Luke Morris
Tips:  Aguerooo has been drawn favourably in 3 and seems to be generating the most interest and has the most wins over any other horse in the race.  Gracious John and Wolowitz are strong EW contenders.

4:45 32RED MARATHON
1M, 9 declared...
  1. Bear Faced - Sir Mark Prescott - Luke Morris
  2. Bernie's Boy - Andrew Balding - Oisin Murphy
  3. Cape Speed - Mark Johnston - Joe Fanning
  4. Haalick - Roger Varian - Andrea Atzeni
  5. Race Day - Saeed Bin Suror - James Doyle
  6. Sea of Flames - David Elsworth - Silvestre De Souza
  7. Special Season - William Haggas - Pat Cosgrave
  8. Beleave - Luke Dace - Kieran O'Neill
  9. Yeah Baby Yeah - Gay Kelleway -
Tips: Cape Speed has won his past 2 starts and looks a promising ride, whilst Race Day might just give James Doyle the win he's looking for. I'm feeling Bear Faced for an EW, he's had 4 places out of 5 flat runs including 2 wins.

Wanted to wish local Epsom trainers, Laura Mongan (Skidby Mill) and Simon Dow (Forceful Appeal) good luck!

Whatever happens, i'm sure there will be a few surprises and Easter treats.

Happy Easter!

Evie xxx
