Ascot Chase Raceday, 2016...

A look ahead to ...
Ascot Chase Raceday, 2016...

This weekend, Saturday 20th February happens to be a hugely popular and much anticipated Jump meeting with the final outings for those destined for the Cheltenham Festival next month.  (For Premier Enclosure tickets there is also the added bonus of the Cheltenham Preview Night with top trainer, Paul Nicholls, amongst others.)

Ascot is one of my favourite racecourses in the UK, just look at this spectacular view that awaits your visit...
Ascot, January 2016...

Both the Premier £30 and Grandstand £23 Enclosures offer plenty of seating, bars and restaurants, there is so much to explore and see, I highly recommend you book tickets early to avoid disappointment...
The highlight of the day is the Feature race at 3.35pm, the Grade One Betfair Ascot Chase with 10, and now only 8 runners declared at confirmation stage, with the going declared as soft, heavy in places, runners as follows;

  1. Amore Alato
  2. Dynaste
  3. Flemenstar
  4. Royal Regatta
  5. Savello
  6. Silviniaco Conti .. (with first time blinkers)
  7. Triolo D'Arlene
  8. Ma Filleute
Updated: Vibrato Valtat and Irish Cavalier no longer running...

In this case, my Top Pick will go to the Irish gem, Flemenstar.. with his recent, Grade One Christmas win at Leopardstown, this 11 yr old will be looking to pick another victory.. watch this space..

Updated, 18/02/2016 Sadly no longer running... My top pick right now and hose I have a soft spot in my heart for, is the Paul Nicholls trained 7 yr old gelding, Vibrato Valtat.   I think he really seems to love the soft ground and although there is tough competiton, i'd love to see this grey take the lead.

Vibrato Valtat

Whatever happens, whatever the outcome, I have a feeling this is going to be one thrilling race from start to finish!
